Live auctions are pushing their way into luxury fashion. A few hours before kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday, 583,000 people watched as Jimmy Donaldson, a.k.a. MrBeast, gave away an Hermès Birkin bag—estimated value, $39,000—on Whatnot, a live-auction app that had partnered with the YouTube star for the one-hour event. Donaldson also gave away a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, Super Bowl tickets, a Rolex, etcetera.
