Let’s say you’re a pretty big movie star. Many say you’re among the biggest movie stars, whatever that means these days. Maybe you’ve won a best actress Oscar for a musical and appeared in a couple Spider-Man movies. Or maybe you’ve become a reliable box office draw, charismatic and credible as an action star or a regular dad with a billion-dollar smile.

Then you decide to do a Disney movie. It’s one of those I.P. re-imaginings that has turned the kiddie studio into the only company to release seven billion-dollar grossing films in a single year. You may not win awards or street cred, but everyone will see it. And the pay’s great, your agents tell you—especially when the movie does well, which it most certainly will.
