Apple Is Offering $150 Million to Stream F1

With ESPN unwilling to match Tim Cook and Eddy Cue’s offer, the U.S. rights to Formula One are almost certainly headed to Apple’s streamer, trading cable TV’s reach for Big Tech revenue. Here’s hoping Cupertino will be a better, more creative, partner to F1 than it was to MLS.

In recent days, here among the quaking aspens at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Liberty Media C.E.O. Derek Chang took meetings with both Apple’s Tim Cook and Eddy Cue, as well as Disney’s Bob Iger and Jimmy Pitaro, to hear their respective visions for Formula 1’s future in the United States—and, as importantly, how much each would be willing to pony up for domestic rights starting in 2026.
