A death threat has been sent to a prominent Hollywood union amid the ongoing labor strikes, according to police. The threat was communicated in a letter today to the IATSE union, possibly from one of its members or former members, though two sources say it contained language that targeted the broader entertainment community.

The letter was referred by IATSE to Burbank police and to the AMPTP, the studio bargaining coalition that is locked in a heated labor impasse with the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA, two sister guilds of IATSE, which represents below-the-line workers on film and television productions. IATSE is not on strike, but with most film and TV production shut down, its members are largely idle. The AMPTP, after receiving word of the threat, is said to have then alerted the top leaders of its member companies.
