In hindsight, the election in Virginia last week could have been called for Abigail Spanberger at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Turnout numbers were coming in from Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, and they were blowing the doors off. By that afternoon hour, turnout had already surpassed 2024 presidential levels at all three of Virginia’s Tech’s campus precincts—a shocking threshold for an off-year election for governor.
