Back in the day, there was only one restaurant in all of Chelsea at which to host a post-opening gallery dinner or other art-world event: Bottino, a vaguely Italian place on 10th Avenue between 24th and 25th Streets, with a narrow bar, an airy dining room, and a large, L-shaped outdoor garden. These days, that stretch of Chelsea has a few more restaurants, and yet, last night, I found myself seated in Bottino’s garden, watching as the restaurant strained to host three separate art-world dinner parties at the same time. So much for the doom and gloom narrative.
