Netflix’s Too Big to Fail Moment

Yesterday’s earnings portrayed a company pulling away from its competitors, with business fundamentals and future growth pleasing investors. But Netflix’s executives also offered plenty of clues about how they’re going to manage their headaches (the ad tier, their competitors’ ability to gang up, etcetera) and the comp and movie theater questions.

At least everyone in Hollywood now knows what it’s like to live in Arkansas. Sure, they’ve got some okay companies in the state. There’s Tyson Foods, of Fully Cooked Honey Battered Breast Tenders fame. Over in Little Rock, there’s Dillard’s, the department store chain, proudly based in the area since the Great Depression. But if we’re honest, the only real action in Arkansas is in Bentonville. There’s Walmart… and then there’s everything else.
